The Joy in the Journey
Finding wonder in the spaces in between.

Think about the journeys you take in a single day. The walk to the bus stop. The drive to school with the same songs playing. The long way home because your child wanted to count the dogs along the route. We tend to think of a journey as something big, a trip we plan and pack for. But most of our journeys are small, ordinary, and folded right into the everyday. They are the paths we travel so often we stop noticing them at all.
And yet the noticing is where the magic lives. A journey is more than the distance between here and there. It is everything we see, feel, wonder about, and discover along the way. It is the puddle worth jumping in, the question that comes out of nowhere, the shortcut that turns into an adventure. When we slow down enough to pay attention, the in-between stops being something to get through and becomes something to be in.
This is what we hope every child gets to feel. Not the pressure to arrive, but the freedom to explore. Curiosity that is welcomed instead of rushed. Wonder that is met with "tell me more" instead of "not right now." Discovery that belongs to them, at their own pace, in their own way.
The destination will always be there. The journey only happens once.
At Caston Kids, we believe joyful reading grows the same way. A book is a journey too. Every page turn is a step forward, every story a path into somewhere new. Reading together is not a race to the last page. It is a chance to wander, to pause on the picture that catches your child's eye, to ask what might happen next and let them imagine the answer. Books carry us to places we have never been and bring us home again a little more curious than we left. When families read this way, slowly and side by side, reading becomes one of the most joyful journeys we get to take together.
This is the heart of We Get to Be™. It is more than a phrase. It is an invitation. A posture. A way of moving through the world with open eyes and an open heart. It reminds us that the joy was never waiting at the finish line. It was here the whole time, in the steps we take, step by step, page by page, wonder by wonder.
To every family who finds their way here:
Take the long way sometimes.
Stay curious.
Know that wherever you are on the path is exactly enough.
And together, we get to find joy in the journey.
